President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Olusegun Obasanjo & Abdulsalami Abubakar at the AU Summit in Addis, Ababa Today Posted on Thursday, January 30th, 2014 at 3:28 PM

It was a gathering of the heads of states and government at the 22nd Summit of the African Union earlier today Thursday 30th January 2014 at the Addis, Ababa, Ethiopia.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as well as former Nigerian heads of states Olusegun Obasanjo and Abdulsalami Abubakar, were present.

The AU had earlier declared 2014 as The Year of Agriculture and Food Security in Africa. The event is themed “Transforming Africa’s Agriculture: Harnessing Opportunities for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development”.

GEJ as well as the participating heads of states and government launched the year of agriculture which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme.

GEJ is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Friday after the summit has been concluded.

Okotie who is also the presidential candidate of his party, is in a bad state despite the fact that a Federal High court in Abuja had ruled that INEC should re-register his party after it was de-registered which the election body has refused to comply with the court directives. I’m sure you all remember Okotie claimed that God told him to contest every election, the same Okotie is now threatening INEC and Nigeria that if he is not allowed to run, then there will be trouble in country.

Read; The big news this week was the inauguration of the National Conference, but the deaths of more than 16 young applicants who died in Abuja and other venues, during the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS recruitment exercise, overshadowed it. This tragedy mirrors the desperate situation of Nigeria. One only hopes that this unfortunate loss of lives, coupled with the incessant Boko Haram killings and other youth-based violence, would serve as a wake-up call to the summiteers, that this country needs a new governance paradigm.
