BREAKING: Boko Haram attacks Geidam in Yobe

Report reaching DAILY POST indicates that Boko Haram elements are currently attacking residents of Geiram Local Government Area of Yobe State in the northeast Nigeria.

A staff of one of the NGOs operating in Geidam, told our correspondent that the terrorists are currently attacking Gaidam town with heavy exchange of gunfire with troops.

“We are at home but the sound of gunfire and heavy weapons are flying as if it would take off the rooftops on buildings,” he said.

Gaidam is about 182km from Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

According to previous reports, Geidam has been attacked four times this year by Boko Haram insurgents.

The attack today is coming few hours after the Chief of Army staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru visited troops formation in Ngamdu, promising that Nigeria’s military is going to collaborate with Chad, Niger and Cameroonian soldiers to defeat the insurgents and end the conflict in the lake Chad region.

Boko Haram has displaced over seven million people in the region and killed more than 30,000 people according to UN report.

Six Christians Arrested For Destroying Traditional Worshipers’ Shrine In Enugu

The police in Enuug State say six persons have been arrested over their alleged involvement in the burning down of shrines in Umuaji, Ezeagu Local Government Area. DailyPost gathered that the suspects, members of the Indigenous Christians of Umuaji, carried out the act during their special crusade. The group reportedly claimed that the burnt shrines were responsible for the backwardness of the community and her indigenes, adding that they had the approval of the natives to destroy the shrines as part of spiritual cleansing of the area.
