After three successful editions of the Africa Fashion Week in London, the organisers brings the train of hugely successful show to Nigeria to give talented Nigerian designers whose circumstances are far from the international fashion scene a chance to show their creativity to a global audience, a platform that will create visibility, awareness and networking opportunities for them. According to Ronke Ademiluyi, the founder of AFW London, organisers of AFW Nigeria, ‘AFW Nigeria believes in emerging talents and our core aim is providing visibility platforms for new talents, who would otherwise not have the means to gather national attention and awareness of their own.’ She states further that ‘she believes for creativity to grow there needs to be a platform that celebrates supports and contributes to its growth. We want Nigerian designers to take advantage of this opportunity and register’


Designers who believe their works have what it takes to compete in market place and hope to grab a fair share of international market are invited to exhibit their designs at AFW Nigeria which will take place May 17 to 18 at Intercontinental Hotel.

The AFW Nigeria will showcase new, established and veteran designers as part of this spectacular fashion week showcasing decades of Nigeria fashion on the runway and highlighting the rich heritage of the Nigerian fashion culture.


The AFWN which is being organised in collaboration with Abiola Okoya of Mibod Global Resourses is produced by Sola Oyebade of Mahogany Productions and Toyin Lawani of Tiannah's styling academy. 
Notable personalities that will grace the event are Chief Folusho Alakija, Sis Abba Folawiwo, Chief Molade Okoya, Senator Daisy Danjuma, Hon. Abike Dabiri and other notable personalities.

Pastor Chris Okotie of Household of God International Ministries posted this an article on his official Facebook page on the tragic stampede at the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment. Read; The big news this week was the inauguration of the National Conference, but the deaths of more than 16 young applicants who died in Abuja and other venues, during the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS recruitment exercise, overshadowed it. This tragedy mirrors the desperate situation of Nigeria. One only hopes that this unfortunate loss of lives, coupled with the incessant Boko Haram killings and other youth-based violence, would serve as a wake-up call to the summiteers, that this country needs a new governance paradigm. If the conference cannot produce that, then the over N7 billion invested in it would amount to another colossal waste of our scarce national resources.
