Jonathan is a Simple Man Who Puts His Trust in Incompetent, Fraudulent People - Sanusi

Former CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi said on Sunday that the president who kicked him out of office is a simple man trying to do well, but his effectiveness is being undermined by the pervasiveness of incompetent and fraudulent aides.

Sanusi was suspended by the president on Thursday over alleged financial misconduct and recklessness, a move political pundits are calling ‘politically motivated.’

It may be recalled that Sanusi accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) of misappropriating $20 billion (14.5 billion euros). This allegation alone has earned Sanusi high-placed enemies.

In an interview with AFP in Lagos, Sanusi observed that many of Jonathan’s advisers are dishonest sycophants who do not speak the truth about the extent of corruption in government.

He also noted that “when you sit with President Jonathan himself, he appears [to be] a nice simple person who is trying his best to do his best.”

Continuing, he said Jonathan’s greatest failing is “that he is surrounded by people who are extremely incompetent, who are extremely fraudulent and whom he trusts
