So
many people, including actors and musicians, are already looking for a
way to be relevant during the 2015 general elections. Singer Waconzy is
one of them.
Earlier in the week, the Celebrated
singer tried his luck and sent out a tweet to the President through his
media aide, Reuben Abati. Waconzy informed the president how he
campaigned for him during the last election, claiming he spent not less
than N4m to promote the songs.
He was practically begging Abati to ‘follow’ him on twitter “so that we can do better things.”
Of course, his tweets have been
condemned by online critics who might well be his fans. Most people said
Waconzy had gone broke and was looking for a quick way of making money
by swelling the ranks of sycophants.
However, Waconzy told Saturday Beats
that he was not broke. To prove that he is buoyant, he said he had just
bought a car, which he claimed was worth millions of naira.
“People will always talk; let them talk. It is funny when people say I am going broke because I just got a 2013 Mercedes Benz worth N15m. Am I broke? The tweet was not to ask for my money back but to show my support as a Niger-Delta boy.”
He, however, didn’t deny his support for
the president or the fact that he was asking the presidency to carry
him along in future endeavours.
“I also would love the president to
appreciate my work and carry me along in projects that he embarks on
too. I believe people that are saying all this things are jobless,” he
said.
